PowerPoint Tip - Cool Contour Shadows

PowerPoint can create shadows that follow the contours of objects in an image. Here's how it works:

1. First, I planted some tulips! That was a few years ago it happened, but the point is simply that you need to find something to shoot. Choose something fairly small. (But if you have a sky of intense blue, you can try a tree against the sky.)

2. Find something to put a color behind the photo subject. In this case, I had a cream-colored table that I keep in my porch.I lay on its side so that it was superior to that which was wide and pulled behind the tulips. (If you use the sky as background, you can skip this step.)

3. Take your photos, make sure that the issue is completely solid in front of your background. Good lighting helps - I had a sunny day.

4. Upload your photos on your computer. If you are still using film, you must unlock and then scan.

5. In PowerPoint, click Paste button on the imageDrawing toolbar or select Insert> Picture> From File. (Check in PowerPoint 2007 Insert tab> Illustrations group> Picture.) Double-click the image file.

6. Adjust the position of the photo as desired. You can also use dragging the corner handles.

7. With the photo selected, select the transparent color from the Picture toolbar. (If the toolbar is not visible, right-click on a toolbar and choose Picture from the list of toolbars.) (In PowerPoint 2007Select the Format tab, specify> Adjust group> Coloring the dropdown> Transparent Color.) You will need a special cursor visible.

8. Click anywhere on the background of sound. The background is transparent. You will now see the placeholder with the image. Note that the area is at the head, which does not yet know out there.

9. Cut all the areas that do not want. To cut, click the Crop button on the Picture toolbar. (In PowerPoint 2007, choose Format tab> Product Group> Crop.) Then drag inwards to theManages the cut, if necessary. The result is beautiful as it is, it would be a tutorial and a value in itself, but there's more!

10. You are now ready to add the shadow. Select the image and style Shadow select from the Drawing toolbar. Then, select one of the styles of shadow. (In PowerPoint 2007, click the Format tab, pictures of the Styles group, Picture Effects drop-down> Shadow. And choose one of the styles.) PowerPoint draws the shadow around the object without transparent areas! Withouttransparent areas, you see the shadow around the rectangular image.

11. You can set the shadow to make it more dramatic. Click Shadow Style from the Drawing toolbar again and select the Shadow Settings. On the Shadow Settings toolbar, click the four buttons for half shade. The farther the shadow of the object is more visible, and becomes more dramatic. You can also click the Shadow Color-down and change theShadow color. (Check in PowerPoint 2007, on the Format tab, pictures of the Styles group, Picture Effects drop-down> Shadow> Shadow Options, or click the dialog launcher in the Styles group on the images to open the Format Picture dialog and select the category shadow . There you can change the color, transparency, size, Blur, the angle and the distance of the shadow, for a truly amazing flexibility!)

While the rest of the world is waiting for the integration of SAP BW and BO, Ingo shows what's possible today. The great advantage for SAP BI consultants is that he does not assume any prior knowledge of BO XI. Instead he translates the BO terms into SAP BI terms (e.g. 'BO Publications' is similar to 'BEx Broadcaster'). This way he shows SAP BI consultants a very practical, step-by-step approach from BO's installation up to the integration with SAP's NetWeaver Portal. He concludes with an outlook into future integration scenarios as they were known in November 2008. It is likely that the book will get quickly outdated, but at this point in time it is a great entry-level book for SAP BI consultants. Many more books will have to follow to address all the integration issues like authorizations, performance, large-scale deployments and others. Unfortunately the book does not cover all the details of the BO XI platform and instead refers to 'other publications'. At 258 pages there would have been plenty of space for more detailed information. Therefore it gets only 4 out of 5 stars.
